Hello all! Thank you for all your encouragement and support over the past two weeks. We started our journey on 1/2/12 and we weighed in this morning. Drum Roll Please.......................................................................................................................................................
We are both down 7 pounds each!!!!! That is a great start to our journey! It shows that smart food choices, smaller portions, and exercise really is the best and only way to lose weight and get in shape!
We went over to Leander Middle School this morning and did some lunges on the track, some leg lifts and ran a bit too. Katie is faster than she thought, but it was really hard on her knees. So, they are getting iced as we speak!
We also decided to weigh in every Sunday instead of every two weeks... the wait was killing us!
Whooo hooo here's to the next week of healthy living!

Long Bike Ride!
We went on a three mile bike ride today up and down hills in the neighboorhood and my legs are letting me know about it tonight!
We came home starving... so we got out our new favorite grill and put some chicken on with a little sweet chili lime sauce.. it was sooo yummy! Katie made some green beans, garlic, and onions to go along side and it was so delish!
Tomorrow Katie plans on running on the track at the middle school down the road to see how fast she can go... wish her luck!! =)

Mid-Week!
It's been a great week! We have worked out everyday and eaten so well. Today we had a great dinner, although we ate later than we like. We got home and worked out ... Katie had a great run today! She is getting better and going farther and farther each time. I am noticing that I am less winded after my rides that caused me to be very winded last week. So, with each day we are both making progress!
For dinner, I made polenta with meat sauce with steamed broccolli. It was sooooo yummy!
Weigh-in is coming soon! We are looking forward to Sunday to see if our hard work has paid off, even though we know it is doing us some real good!

Subway Day!
Why do they hire such morons??? Geeze.. you would think we would learn and not go to that location anymore! I have never seen, what is supposed to be a clean place that serves food, so dirty! There was trash and mud and dirt all over the floor, even a purple medical latex glove on the floor... that was just the beginning... I cannot stand the people who work at this location. They are kids, I know... but jeeze at least act interested in your job and your customers! My sub was such a mess when I got home; it was so frustrating! I am going to log in to their site late and complain. I told Katie that is the LAST time we are going to that location.
So, we got home...ate our mess of a sub, saved the other mess for tomorrow's lunch, and the went to work out! Great bike ride, but it was so windy that I got a face full of cedar pollen and it gave me an instant headache... so we headed back and finished our cardio in the garage out of the wind.
Tonight is the Biggest Loser.. one of my favorite shows!
Katie is doing great too and is enjoying working out together! It's nice to have someone by your side going through this with you!
I think I want to try this recipe this weekend!

Brrrr Cold!!
Today was a cold rainy day in austin/leander... but that didn't stop us! As soon as we got home today, we got changed into our workout gear and headed out! Me on my bike and Katie running along side. The temp was about 45 as we headed out on our work out. We ran/rode down to the park and got a great cardio workout. Once we got home, we didn't even notice the cold as we were warmed up! More cardio continued once we got home as we worked out in the garage!
Dinner was awesome! Grilled mahi mahi, asparagus, and potatoes. Mmmm mmm good!
Tomorrow is Tuesday, so it's subway night and the biggest loser!! Yay!!

Baby Steps
We wound up switching our off day to yesterday and getting in a nice work out this morning. We went for a very nice bike ride to the park in the neighborhood. Got some awesome cardio time in!
We both have papers to write for school, yet here I sit writing and while Katie watches my Giants increase their lead over Atlanta! Whoohoooo!!!
Today we faced some temptations... we went to lunch at Chili's and were faced with what used to be an awesome menu of fried delishishness... lol. Now, we made better choices. I had the grilled chicken tacos while Katie had the grilled shrimp tacos. Both came with a small portion of rice and some black beans that were incredible!!! The server brought a basket of fried cheese to the table beside us and they looked really good but we made the right choice and didn't get anything before our meal! It's the baby steps that add up to lifestyle changes one by one. We took pride knowing that we ate well today. We weren't stuffed and miserable when we left there like we have been so many times before!
Katie is having a hard time adjusting to eating healthier, but I know she can do it!

On a Roll!!
Even though we were off work today, we didn't take the day off from eating right and working out. We have given ourselves Thursday's and Sunday's to not work out and have a little bit of a cheat meal... nothing out of control. I have done this before, and without it we would go crazy. Giving yourself a little bite here and there is the key to success. This way you do not feel deprived. I did this my entire journey last time and it worked like a charm.
Today, we got up around 6:30am ... it was so nice sleeping in this morning! .... our usual is around 4:15am so this is a treat! Katie did a fantastic job this morning running. While she was running, I was riding my bike along side her. She ran farther and longer than she has before! Once we came home, we worked out in the garage and it felt so good. We are walking a little slowly today from some squats the other day, but we are getting this done!
For dinner tonight we tried out our new countertop grill. We had turkey, asparagus, avacado and fat free swiss cheese pannini's! They were sooooo yummmy!!! Check them out!!! So delish!
We love this grill and have only had it a day! It's so worth the money!
Weigh-in day willl be every other Sunday... so our first weigh in will be on Jan 15th. We logged our starting weights, so we'll let you know how the weigh-in goes for sure!

Today we felt great! We were both having a little trouble sleeping last night though.. not sure what that was about, but both of us agree that we are feeling better with just the little changes we have made so far!
Our work outs are getting better and better and more involved as the days go on!
Today I thought I would share some pictures of my new bike that Katie got me for Christmas, us working out, and what we had for dinner! I made some Mahi Mahi and potatoes, while Katie fixed us a salad. It was so so so good! Who says eating healthy isn't tasty??

Another Successful Day!
Well, another successful day! Oatmeal to start the day for me, then a WW dinner for lunch and a 6 inch chicken breast Subway on wheat for dinner. Katie started her day with shredded wheat cereal, a ham wrap on a low carb tortilla, oranges, and a 6 inch turkey sub from Subway for dinner.
We got home and went on a nice bike ride down to the park. We have really missed riding bikes, so today was a nice change. We could feel our legs burning!!! When we got home we did some weights and stretched so hopefully we wont be too sore tomorrow.
After working out, we read the first chapter of Jillian's book as well as another chapter in Ellen's new book. It's really funny... you should read it!
Katie has decided that every Tuesday will be Subway dinner night. It's also the night of one of our favorite shows... tonight Biggest Loser Season 13 starts! This is the season that I applied for.. so it will be interesting to see who got picked from Austin.

Day 1 A New Start 1-2-12
Today is 1/2/12. Today is our day one! We sure went out with a bang... we ate nothing but junk food all day on new year's eve, and on new year's day. Blah... I made 7 layer dip and we had other dips too.. like one with 7 layers wasn't enough. We also had double dave's pepperoni rolls. Good Lord, what were we thinking.
So, after eating all that, and waking up the next day and doing it all over again, even having dip for breakfast and lunch, I felt so awful that I didn't have any dinner that night....not that I needed it.
Today is a new day... a new year... a new start. I had oatmeal for breakfast, 2 oranges as a snack, some noodles and veggies for lunch. We came home and instead of plopping down on the couch, we went and worked out. I rode a bike while Katie jogged along side me. We then worked some weights on our new home gym in the garage. We didn't do very long, but it beats coming home and sitting on the couch.
Dinner tonight was 2 slices of pot roast, one normal person sized potato, 4 carrotts, and a salad with a healthier dressing than the normal creamy goodness... lol
We are also going to start reading Jillians book tonigth in hopes there can be some mental changes too.
